Call for posters, presentations and participation

In collaboration with the Higher Education Academy and the Economics Network, the School of Business and Economics, Loughborough University is organising a symposium employability.
This is a one day symposium that will focus on providing Business and Economics academics with opportunities to interact with colleagues interested in incorporating employability skills within the curriculum.
The Programme includes:
Invited speakers from industry who will indicate what attributes they seek in graduates
A forum for debate with current students, graduates and academics on what students think they are getting/ got and what educators think they are delivering, and how gaps might be filled
Talks from two graduates about their perspectives on: their HE experience; how they developed their skills; and what they wished they had done before gaining employment
A show and tell in the form of structured presentations and /or a poster session to expose academics to different ways in which students develop employability skills
A discussion of the issues and challenges (e.g. assessment) of developing employability skills
A workshop on different approaches to developing employability skills
A session in which participants will audit modules/programmes for employability skills and reflect on their practices.
The expected audience are educators from two disciplines: Business and Economics.
The objectives are to enable participants to:
1. Appreciate perspectives of a range of stakeholders on employability skills.
2. Obtain exposure of different models of how employability skills are incorporated at a module level and programme level and outside programme level.
3. Contribute and interact with the debate on challenges/issues of incorporating employability skills within the curriculum.
4. Gain experience of critiquing and then restructuring the curriculum so that employability skills are embedded.
