A one day dissemination conference as part of the DfEE funded -Central
Lancashire Key Skills Contract- Project
Wednesday 1st March, 2000
Harris Park Conference Centre, University of Central Lancashire
Keynote Speakers:
Sue Otter, HE Adviser
Carl Gilleard, Chair, Association of Graduate Recruiters
Malcolm McVicar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Central Lancashire
Conference Aim
The University of Central Lancashire+s experience with the Enterprise in
HE initiative showed that success in implementing change was more
effective when change was embedded within programmes of study, rather
than bolted-on in the form of optional or compulsory appendages.
The 2 year DfEE funded Key Skills Project has prompted development work
relating to key skills in the undergraduate curriculum, in a number of
trialling departments across the University, representing a wide range
of academic disciplines.
This Conference aims to share the learning arising from the work of the
Project.
Conference Objectives
- to review the development work undertaken within the Project+s
Trialling Departments
- to examine unexpected developments and outcomes associated with the
Project
- to explore some wider institutional and sector issues which relate to
the key skills agenda
- to consider potential future developments for key skills in HE
Who should attend
- Managers and staff in HE and FE institutions, colleges, and schools

learning and assessment, key skills and careers.

systems relating to developing and accrediting skills, and reflecting on
and recording achievement.
