Hello Sally
I asked a very similar question on the SEDA list last year and compiled a summary of responses which I've pasted in below.
I hope this helps.

Thank you to everyone who responded to my request for information around support for programme leaders in your institutions.
Responses ranged from doing very little and wanting to develop the area to more comprehensive support mechanisms. I’ve extracted the key areas of support below to share with the list.
Shared online resources were all valuable and interesting in particular the HEA report Academic leadership: developing a framework for the professional development of programme leaders’ (September 2007) Johnston and Westwood

Subject: Programme leaders development, training etc.
Hello
We are doing some work at Greenwich to support and develop programme leaders.
I'm hoping to find out what practice/s are out there in the sector. If you're able to share information on what provision you have, if any, for induction, training, ongoing support and development for programme leaders please get in touch (here or reply directly to me) and, as ever, am happy to share findings.
(clarification of terminology: at Greenwich we have 'courses' (rather than 'modules') which make up 'programmes' of study, ie. the whole award/qualification).
thanks v. much
Sally
