You are invited to attend the second blended learning conference at Worcester College of Technology.

2014 Blended learning conference

Embedding the Blend

@ Worcester College of Technology <http://www.wortech.ac.uk/BlendedLearningConference.aspx> or attend online <http://wctexternal.wortech.ac.uk/ILTBookingForm/ >

Tuesday 10th June 10 - 4pm

The day

This one day conference on Tuesday 10th June 2014 focusses on how Worcester is implementing successful blended learning models to improve efficiency without compromising on the quality of the learning experience.

Colleagues are welcome to attend either in person or online, to understand how to adapt our SOLA model into existing practice in all areas of FE, HE and adult learning delivery modes. Speakers and workshops in the day cover blended learning design, delivery and support methods. The ILT team will also share effective practice learned from experience in designing and delivering blended models for the following projects; Birmingham Adult Education Service and the new Diploma in Digital Learning.

Conference Rationale

On-going changes in funding and the FELTAG recommendations will mean that it is likely that blended learning will play an increasing role in Further Education over the next few years.

Worcester College of Technology is leading the way in improving the learning standards and efficiency by employing a mandatory blended model of curriculum delivery. The SOLA model builds upon previous blended delivery experience to ensure students are engaged in an active and fulfilling learning journey. The conference shares our successful practice by covering all areas of curriculum design, learning resource development, including staff support and delivery.

Come and see how blended learning models can be implemented from the teacher’s and learner’s perspective - truly benefitting your organisation.

The programme

The conference will include presentations from Stuart Laverick (Principal, Worcester College of Technology) Christina Conroy OBE (CEO of Coralesce a Curriculum Development organisation leading on a number of BL projects) and Peter Kilcoyne (ILT Director at Worcester College of Technology) which will focus on how these two models of blended learning have been developed and implemented.

There will also be hands on sessions, discussion sessions in role groups and opportunities to build partnerships with other organisations. The aim of the conference is to share expertise and learning content to implement efficient, high quality blended learning curriculum models.

Conference aims:

1) To share lessons learned through developing and embedding various models of blended learning

2) To examine ways in which blended learning can lead to efficiency savings

3) To give delegates the opportunity to have a “hands on” look at e-learning content developed for SOLA, new Diploma in Digital Learning, and Adult Enterprise

4) To examine and discuss the part of different “roles” in implementing SOLA e.g. Quality Manager, Curriculum Manager and ILT support,

5) To explore ways in which organisations can work in partnership to develop blended learning models.
