Educational Development Consultant
Starting salary: £36,862, rising annually to £45,336

You will join a vibrant, established team in the Oxford Centre for Staff and Learning Development (OCSLD), which supports the University’s mission through the provision of high quality internal and external staff development, and by undertaking pedagogic research.
In this role you will design, provide and evaluate educational development opportunities for staff at Brookes and across our national and international networks. Initially you will take on responsibility for professional development for associate teachers and will join the programme team for the Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching in Higher Education. You will also provide leadership in educational development for at least one of the areas of work outlined in our Strategy for Enhancing the Student Experience, such as curriculum design, graduate attributes, continuing professional development and student engagement. You will work closely with colleagues in the Faculties to develop and support their action plans for improving the student experience.
You will make a significant contribution to the research activities of the unit, conducting pedagogic research yourself and championing and co-ordinating work with discipline based staff to evaluate, investigate and improve teaching, learning and assessment in higher education, complementing the established research themes of assessment, curriculum design, learning in a digital age and professional development.
You will be responsible for:
§ professional development for associate teachers
§ planning staff development which meets the needs of the U niversity and external clients
§ undertaking pedagogic research projects
§ designing staff and educational development interventions which make effective use of technology
§ contributing to OCSLD’s online collections of pedagogic research and open educational resources
§ pursuing opportunities for OCSLD services, generate revenue and raise the profile of the Centre .
You should have
§ significant experience of staff and educational development in further or higher education settings
§ experience of diagnosing and analysing educational and professional development needs
§ experience of supporting staff using a wide range of development techniques
§ expertise in the pedagogy of higher education
§ a track record of conducting an d publishing pedagogic research.
