We are looking for an energetic and motivated individual to join the
Academic Practice and Organisational Development team at the University of
Birmingham.
You will have a strong interest in, and experience of, staff or teacher
development, a good working knowledge of higher education pedagogy, and
experience of working with senior staff at institutional level to plan and
implement policy and strategy related to teaching and the support of
learning. You will appreciate how staff development and organisational
development interact, and you will be excited and energised by change.
You will be able to support the development of a wide range of staff who
teach across the range of disciplines offered at Birmingham, by
contributing to the design and delivery of the department’s taught
courses, such as the HEA accredited PG Cert and Associate modules in
Learning and Teaching in HE. You will actively model scholarly approaches
to teaching.
You will take the professional lead on aspects of the staff development
programme, for example, development of activities at standard 3 of the UK
Professional Standards Framework and / or accredited programme leadership.
You will advise the University and senior managers on strategic
educational development issues and managers and staff on specific staff
and team development issues. You will be prepared to contribute to other
staff and organisational development activities and projects.
You will report to the Director of Educational Development in Academic
Practice and Organisational Development, which is part of the Human
Resources Department.
