The University's staff development function is expanding to include the
provision of support to staff and graduate teaching assistants (eg supervisors

Increasingly, UK university teachers and graduates aspiring to an academic

September 2001 had nearly 10,000 members. This post forms part of a series of
activities under Cambridge University's Learning and Teaching Strategy, which
includes support for those working towards Associateship and Membership of the
ILT. They include both University- and College-affilliated staff.
The objectives of the post include: supporting graduate students and other
graduate teaching assistants, involving running half day workshops and 1:1
discussions about draft applications; assisting University and College
teaching staff members towards Membership and Associateship, involving
supporting existing staff in running half day workshops and with 1:1
discussions about draft applications; and scoping the needs of local ILT
Members in respect of their continuing professional development.
The successful applicant will have some experience of teaching in HE and will
be a member of the ILT.
