and the equally-successful conference at Stoke Rochford in April, we have
arranged a further meeting of the SEDA/SRHE Educational Development Research
Network (details below). Last October we had to turn people away as more
than 60 wanted to attend. This time we have had to set a limit of 50 so

Speaker: Gregory Light, Lecturer in Higher Education Studies, Institute of
Education, University of London

Why should educational research and theory in higher education inform
academic teaching practice? How might it be employed to inform practice?  

The aim of this session is to provide participants with an opportunity to
examine and develop the scholarly nature of educational development.  It
draws on work done on the professional accreditation of teaching in higher
education programme at the Institute of Education, University of London and
explores the relationship between research, theory and practice in the
provision of such programmes.  

It will also look at the use of some current research into student learning
and how it might be used within these programmes to enhance and develop
teaching. 


The cost of the meeting is £10 for SRHE and SEDA members (either individual
or corporate) and £15 for non-members.  Coffee and tea will be available
throughout the afternoon.
