Seeing Eye to Eye
Sunday 11October
with Helen Guinness and Frances Eméleus
Organisations tend to think of themselves as asexual. The fact is they are not. Recognising and celebrating the differences between masculine and feminine, male and female, is vital if we are to understand our changing world. It is essential to realise that men and women actually speak a different language, have different fundamental values, needs and attitudes.
Only when we begin to see that our working and personal lives are strongly impacted by our particular cultural values and their inherent preconceptions, can we begin to understand that there are other ways of meeting our needs and demands.
The objectives are to identify our cultural assumptions, identify the areas of persistent misunderstanding, discover the basic principles of masculine and feminine energy, understand the different uses of language between men and women, remove the threats inherent in our cultural assumptions, and identify which roles are better suited to men or women.
You should emerge from the experience understanding the differences between men and women more clearly and, we believe, beginning to See Eye to Eye.
Helen is a professional consultant with over fifteen years¹ experience in creating and developing business training courses and specialist development programmes Her particular expertise is in one-to-one coaching and empowerment, mostly at senior executive level. She is currently researching and co-writing a text book on cross-gender culture in the business environment with Frances Emeléus.
Frances is a full time counsellor and therapist. She has specialised in Sex Therapy with Relate and operates her own private practice in Gloucestershire and London.
Breaking the Personal Sound Barrier
Sunday 8 November
with Paul Ogden and Yoana Browning
Learn more about the secrets of your voice, and with this knowledge explore how to further unlock your creative potential. The workshop addresses many belief patterns about the voice. It illustrates the healing potential of the voice and explores the benefits of singing including group singing, the importance of vocal intent and how easy it is to be musically creative. The workshop is for both singers and non-singers and is designed to be experiential, humorous and good fun.
Paul is a vocal coach and musician who worked for many years as a business consultant and trainer. He has worked extensively in developing the use of music within the area of communication and relationships with self and others.
Yoana comes from a business background. She developed an interest in voice when she had coaching sessions with Paul and quickly recognised the potential this form of coaching could have for others; to this end she joined forces with Paul to establish a programme of courses and workshops called "Black Coffee Sound Productions".
Valuing differences
Sunday, 6 December
with Karin Horowitz
This workshop will use the well-known Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) to explore the value of differences in individuals, focusing especially on the impact of different preferences in, eg, effective person-to-person communication, gaining commitment to change, styles of leadership, managing conflict and building relationships. You will have an opportunity to complete the MBTI during the workshop and identify/reconfirm your preferences for source of energy, taking in information, decision-making and structure in your life. We will then work with the differences in the room to develop our understanding and effectiveness. Come along as a refresher to revisit your MBTI preferences and gain new insights, or to take this opportunity of discovering your preferences for the first time.
Karin is an organisational consultant who uses the MBTI extensively for individual, team and organisational development in both private sector and educational settings.
