"In times of change learners inherit the earth; while the learned find themselves beautifully equipped to deal with a world that no longer exists" (ascribed to Eric Hoffer; exact reference unknown)
Dear Colleagues, (with apologies for x-posting)
the deadline for booking your place at the 2020 Academic Practice and Technology (APT) conference “Shaping academic practice for the new decade” is this Friday 19th June. It will be free and online this year (with voluntary donations going NHS related charities).
The conference will take place on Monday July 6th, 2020. It will examine whether the relationship between academic practice and technology needs to change for the new decade, and how digitally enhanced learning can contribute to some of the biggest challenges facing higher and further education.
To help us critique and explore these ideas, and the future roles we might play, we are delighted to be joined by two internationally renowned keynote presenters, Gideon Shimshon, Director of Digital Learning & Innovation at Imperial College London, and Dr. Zachary Walker, Associate Professor at the Institute of Education, UCL and author of “Teaching the Last Backpack Generation”. They will be complemented by 26 presentations from practitioners and researchers from across the international sector from diverse disciplines aligned to conference themes including: teaching, learning and assessing in times of disruption; designing and developing inclusive practice; programme design that creates a relevant and valuable student experience; creative and authentic assessment and feedback, and ; sustainable practice that addresses the impact of climate emergency.
