We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, creative and rigorous External Examiner for the HEA accredited York Learning and Teaching Award. Mapped against Descriptor 1 of the UK Professional Standards Framework the programme is aimed to equip GTAs with the skills, experience and support required to excel in their academic practice and to develop an academic career. The programme is cohort based and recruits 4-50 GTAs annually. The position will be available from the start of the academic year 2017/18 for four years. We are seeking to identify a colleague with experience of postgraduate teaching together with experience of the delivery or management of professional development provision.
Applicants should have:
- extensive educational development experience, teaching on a similar programme
- previous external examining experience
- good awareness of HE teaching and learning in the creative arts
- experience of making HEA fellowship recognition decisions
- Senior or Principal Fellowship of the HEA.
Responsibilities: We would like the external to prepare a report and present it verbally that at one external examiner meeting a year, usually in July and review a selection of online portfolios. Other opportunities to engage with the programme will be offered as optional.
