This is hugely helpful, Helen. Thank you - and I remember your session to the Exec!
Best

Subject: Re: Our principles re digital technology
Hello SEDA friends and followers,
Sarah and I have also been engaged in a back channel conversation about this, sparked by a blog post I wrote on Monday. This isn't self-promotion (I hope) but the post has had a powerful and positive reaction from the e-learning community, and SEDA members who are not directly plugged into those networks may be interested to read it.

I would love to take up Sarah's challenge but I want to ensure that previous thinking in this space doesn't go un-noticed. Others will point us to their own resources. I'm attaching a document I drew up with the support of the SEDA exec about 16 months ago called 'mapping SEDA values to digital behaviours' (though 'digital practices' might be better.) Learner analytics was not as prominent an issue at that time but is touched on. If there is interest I will host this as a googledoc for further discussion and annotation.
I feel I need to say that the work Jisc has done to date around learner analytics has been very sensitive to the ethical issues. But that is all the more reason for educational developers to examine our own roles, values and responsibilities.
