For colleagues interested in supporting and developing Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs) and other early career teachers, we are organising a free event in Edinburgh in June on this theme, as follows:
GTA SUPPORT AND DEVELOPMENT: Scoping out the Big Issues Monday 20 June from 9.30 to 17.00, and Tuesday 21 June 2016 from 9.30 to 13.00 University of Edinburgh
The University of Edinburgh, in collaboration with the University of Glasgow, is hosting a one-and-a-half day free CPD event for staff developers with specific responsibilities for the development and support of Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs) or with a special interest in this area of academic development. The half days are centred around three themes:
* What place does teaching development take in the early careers of researchers?
* How is centralised support for GTAs' teaching development best balanced with support from within their disciplines?
* How does the UK context influence the shape of teaching development opportunities and the way GTAs and their institutions engage with them?
Through a range of presentations and workshops, the event is designed for sharing practice, discussion and collaboration between colleagues from across the UK. You can sign up for the whole or part of the event via this link:
