Dear Sally and everyone
Here at Kent we offer the following
The first module of our PGCert (15 credits at H level) is for anyone who is new to HE teaching and we cover: theoretical perspectives on L&T; student-centred and inclusive learning; practical planning; assessment principles and practices; evaluating and developing student learning. The module is open to all newbies ie probationers, GTAs and hourly paid staff and more experienced staff can apply for exemption. Completing this and the second core module (15 credits at M level) gives eligibility for HEA Associate Fellowship and/or 30 credits and possibility of progression to full PGCert. Most of our modules run over 5 weeks and each session lasts 2.5 hours.
Probationers get formalised time out to take our PGCert; GTAs are 'expected to' undertake the two cores.
We also run non-credit bearing one-day sessions through the Graduate School: Getting to Grips with HE teaching, which is for postgraduates who either are about to start teaching or who are likely to be teaching at some point.
Hope this is helpful
Best wishes
Fran
