Dear Colleagues following an initial call on the HEDG list to hear from anyone involved in students as researchers schemes a network meeting was held at York St John University 10 days ago with representation from 8 institutions.
This has led to the group feeling that there is a place for creating a network to support all HE staff involved in the leading and administration of students as researchers schemes in their broadest sense. The network therefore aims to:
provide a forum for the sharing of best practice in the management, operation and evaluation of such schemes,
provide a means for people to network and ask questions about issues related to the enhancement of such schemes
provide a point of advice and support to those who might be considering setting up such schemes.
The term research should be considered to encompass students engaged in curriculum evaluation and development activities, pedagogic and disciplinary research.
So we have now set up a new JISC list students as researcher schemes (SARS) https://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/cgi-bin/webadmin?A0=SARS
and we are in discussion regarding the possibility of having a network session at BCUR which will be held at Winchester in the spring.
If you are interested in being part of the network please feel free to join the JISC list and we will keep you informed!
best wishes
Mandy
