Hi all, some great ideas, here, what a good discussion! Even more important than usual, with our recent big rise in fees...
I might add some environmental / comfort issues:
"sorry it's so hot / cold in here, it's always like this.." ( so, why are we here?)
" sorry if you can't read my graph very clearly, I didn't know how to make it any bigger / clearer" ( using PowerPoint)
" I didn't want to use this room but the other one was booked. It's much better in there!"
"sorry about my handwriting, it's very small. Can you all read it OK?" ( no, we can't!)
" I'm just standing in for xxx, I don't usually teach this subject"
" I know the traffic's really noisy, it can be very distracting"
" sorry there's no tables to lean on, you'll just have to use your laps"
" just put up your hand if you don't understand me.." ( and show us all how stupid you are!)
If they're not comfortable, they can't see the whiteboard and they can't hear the lecturer.... they're not in a good position to learn much!

Well, just before we get into what will be the last lecture for this module I would just like to inform you that as you know this module is assessed solely through course work. I finished marking your assignments late last night and happy to tell you that you have all passed ... With flying colours

Now personally I think this theory's rubbish, but the course leader wrote the textbook. Now turn to page 238 and start reading from paragraph 2
