Hi Celia,
Great idea! We'd be delighted to have visitors at Plymouth (from overseas or the UK), although I appreciate that it may not be the most convenient location!
Best wishes,
Debby

Subject: Hosts for overseas visitors
The conference committee is very keen to encourage colleagues from overseas to attend SEDA conferences. Home delegates are even more welcome of course! We were delighted to welcome a delegation of around 15 educational developers from Japan at the last Annual Conference in Birmingham last November. At short notice it was possible to arrange for some of them to visit BCU to see an educational development unit. The delegates were delighted to have this opportunity, and promoted an interesting debate for the host (me) as their questions were most though provoking.
This has prompted the idea that it may be helpful if we could arrange similar visits for colleagues in the future, but would be better if this was arranged with more than 24 hours notice!
So with this in mind – is anyone willing to act as host for any overseas visitors who attend either of the two conference: Leeds 6 – 7 May and Chester 16-17 November? It doesn’t matter if you are not geographically close to the conference venue, as overseas delegates may be flying in to a range of destinations.
The idea is that the delegate/s will visit for half a day or so, and will make their own travel arrangements. Visits would probably be on one or two days either side of the conference.
If there are willing volunteers, I will create a database, and will act at facilitator for any delegates who express an interest in arranging a visit, and potential hosts. Any expression of interest at this time will not form a binding contract!
Any offers, please contact me directly: [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>
Thanks
Celia
