I realise that I did not made the query below clear enough. I was not just talking about PGCerts, the link with promotion to Principal Lecturer would apply to any route to Standard Descriptor 2 - in other words it would encourage experienced academics to engage with the Standards, too, via the FHEA route, for example.
Best wishes

Dear Colleagues,
Does your institution make achievement of the UK Professional Standard Descriptor 2 a criterion for promotion to Principal Lecturer ( or promotion to Senior Lecturer, if you are based in a pre-92 University)?
At the University of Portsmouth we have realised that in order to encourage academic staff to engage with the UK Professional Standards our institution needs to recognise and reward this. It would be helpful to have data about what other institutions are doing, to help us make the case for a link to promotion.
If you send me your answer to the question above, I will collate the answers and circulate the result to the SEDA list. Unless you give me explicit permission, institution names will not be included in this information. [We may feel that it would be useful to have other institution names in order to make a more persuasive case for change, in which case - don't forget to include permission for me to include your own institution's name.]
Best wishes
Rachel
