Dear colleagues,
At the University of Bath we're currently offering a great opportunity for
an enthusiastic and ambitious academic staff developer.
The successful candidate will be based within a new and ambitious Academic
Staff Development team that seeks to integrate support for the development
of different aspects of the modern academic role. In this particular role,
the post holder will be responsible for our Pg Certificate for Academic and
Professional Practice for new colleagues with academic roles. You will work
with the Senior Academic Staff Developer Dr Suki Ekaratne who has an
outstanding record of academic staff development internationally and a
number of learning advisers based in the disciplines. If you're eager to
continue developing yourself within our profession, you will find Bath an
excellent environment for that.
At our University, you will encounter a strong collegial climate
where ownership of learning and teaching still lies within the disciplines.
We have an excellent reputation both nationally and internationally and
we usually find ourselves in the top ten of national league tables. That
means
that we can attract high calibre staff from across the world, with excellent
research, teaching and/or enterprise profiles. Combined with our close ties
to industry and the professions, this makes for an exciting environment in
which our students thrive. Our students have a direct role in setting our
strategies and
policies for learning and teaching at all levels of the institution, which
is part of our particular approach to quality management. At
the discipline level, our teaching colleagues encounter students who take an
active and constructive interest in their education and the way it is
organised.
The type of colleague we are looking for is someone who can see the
advantages of ownership of teaching at the discipline level, who is eager to
work with ambitious staff in a flexible manner and who is intrigued by our
way of linking research _and_ industry to learning and teaching.
Informal enquires can be made to Dr Rob Johnson, 01225 383746 or email
[log in to unmask] or myself.
Salary: £34,793-£41,545
The deadline for applications is 15 June 2008
