1. Virtual Learning Environment Training and Development Officer (Job ref 217129)

This project-based post within the new VLE Implementation Project is available until 31 July 2009. The primary focus is on the development of training sessions and materials to support the institution-wide roll out of a new virtual learning environment (VLE) system at University of Leeds. You will work closely with other members of the staff development, functional and technical teams involved with the project to support and develop the use of the VLE for inspirational learning and teaching.
A talented and highly motivated trainer, you will have current knowledge and experience of using e-learning and VLEs to deliver training and support learning, teaching and assessment in higher education. You should have a flair for producing detailed work-through paper and web-based training materials, the creativity to design new learning interactions and the relevant background to deliver sessions confidently to academic and professional staff at all levels. You will have experience of using e-learning approaches to deliver training and a positive attitude towards the use of technology to deliver an exceptional student experience.
A commitment to providing top quality customer service and experience of delivering staff development are essential, as are excellent communication, organisational and IT skills. Working in an often pressured environment you will be a team player able to influence a range of staff. A qualification/certification in IT training practice, together with experience of using e-learning approaches to deliver training, teaching students, web page design and use of training room technologies would be advantageous.
University Grade 7 (£26,666 - £31,840 p.a.).

2. Staff Development Officer (50%) (Job ref 217130)
University of Leeds, Staff and Departmental Development Unit (SDDU)
This post, available until 31 July 2009, has four key roles: provide training and support for e-learning and use of C&IT [17½%]; promote and develop information literacy for staff [15%]; maintain and develop SDDU's use of e-technology [15%]; contribute to the work of the SDDU Learning and Teaching Team [2½%].
With a first degree or equivalent, you will have proven experience of using C&IT to support learning, teaching and assessment in higher education and of designing web-based learning materials using a range of tools. Knowledge and understanding of information literacy and e-learning in teaching students and staff are key. With practical experience of teaching in higher education or delivering training to staff, you will have highly developed presentation, interpersonal and group facilitation skills. Strong written, organisational and IT skills are also essential as is a commitment to providing high quality, customer-focused staff development. Working in an often pressured environment you will be a team player able to influence a range of staff. A qualification in teaching in higher education or in IT training practice, experience of web site design and knowledge of web based database applications and languages would be an advantage.
