DATE FOR YOUR DIARY: Internationalising educational development: 6 June,
2007 Leeds Metropolitan University
We all have international students at our universities and colleges, but
do we really consider deeply how best to ensure they have a positive
learning experience? Do we maximise the potential benefits of their
presence to enhance the learning experiences of home students? How good
are we at moving beyond domestic concerns when we design the HE
curriculum? And how confident are we that our institutional cultures are
open and inclusive? A one-day conference will be held at Leeds
Metropolitan University on June 6th 2007 for educational developers and
other colleagues who are involved in supporting the teacher development
of academic staff. The event is sponsored by SEDA, UCOSA the Higher
education Academy and Leeds Met. The aims of the day will include:
- encouraging a whole-institution approach to internationalising higher
education;
- facilitating greater awareness among HE staff of the implications of
internationalisation for HE curricular and pedagogical practice and
development,
- modelling helpful approaches in cross-cultural capability development
programmes for new and existing staff.
Details of the event will be available in March, but in the meantime you
might like to put the date in your diary.
