Annual Learning & Teaching Conference: Middlesex University 2006
Challenging, Satisfying and Retaining Students:
27 June: Hendon Campus, 9.30-16.30
Middlesex University invites you to join with their staff at this year’s
Annual Learning and Teaching conference. The theme reflects our aim to focus
on student learning across the university and to consider how we can best
consolidate and improve on these experiences.
This year’s Conference provides delegates with the opportunity to select
from 14 sessions including 3 keynotes and 8 workshops. There will also be a
range of visual and poster presentations looking at our teaching practice
across the university.
Our keynote speakers are:
Ormond Simpson, Open University. We are excited that Ormond, who is highly
regarded for his work on Student Support and Retention, will be delivering
the first keynote address.
Martin Loomes, our Dean of Computer Science. Martin manages to combine a
long-standing interest in and investigation of pedagogy with his more
subject focused research on the nature and role of theories. This session
will reflect on the nature of challenging and satisfying students
Fran Alston, Director Student Retention Project, Napier University,
Edinburgh. Fran is well known for her powers of oratory and a real hands-on
approach to furthering student progression.
This year’s conference is taking place at our new facilities at Hendon with
its impressive new Atrium and technological support for presentation and
oration.
The cost of day is £40 and includes refreshments and lunch.
