On behalf of Middlesex University, we are pleased to invite you to a
workshop/conference on 21st March 2006 at the BCS Central London office
(Southampton St).
The workshop will bring together several experts in Intellectual Property
Rights (IPR) to speak on IPR related to e-learning environments. It is aimed
at anyone currently involved or interested in any aspect of e-learning
including authoring, developing course material, licensing, franchising
among others. It will focus on the main themes: Copyright, Moral Rights, IP
Contracts and Licences, Digital Rights Management (DRM), Exploitation of
Intellectual Property, Ethics, and Professional Issues in IP management.
Middlesex University has successfully run the Global Campus Project, which
facilitates E-Learning in many different centres around the world including
Egypt, Hong Kong, China, Singapore and Cyprus among others. Middlesex
University (including the speakers from Middlesex listed below) has also
been involved in research on various aspects of E-Learning, including work
on IPR, most recently a study on managing IPR in International E-Learning
Environments, funded by HEFCE through JISC.
The introductory keynote speech will be given by Professor John Naughton,
Professor of the Public Understanding of Technology, Open University and
member of the RSA Adelphi Commission (which authored The Adelphi Charter on
Creativity, Innovation and Intellectual Property).

material on IPR-related issues)

- Dr Carlisle George - Barrister; Senior Lecturer, Middlesex University; and
Convenor - Aspects of Law and Ethics Related to Technology (ALERT) research
group
