Dear Colleagues
The following post has just been advertised in the THES, and I would be grateful if you could
pass it on to any of your colleagues to whom you think it might be of interest.
Research Fellow
£20,044 - £30,002 (full time, fixed-term 12 months)
The Research Fellow will work on the Higher Education Academy-funded project
'Putting web 2.0 to work: new pedagogies for new learning spaces'. The
project is run jointly between the University of Strathclyde and the
University of Edinburgh, and will investigate the student experience of
the new learning spaces enabled by the 'read/write web'. The appointee
will conduct a qualitative investigation of four academic programmes
using these new spaces, gathering evidence of the implications of Web
2.0 technologies for higher education pedagogy.
Applicants should have a good knowledge of e-learning technologies, a
first degree and a postgraduate qualification - ideally a PhD - in a
relevant discipline. The appointee will have significant experience of
qualitative research, ideally within the context of higher education,
and an awareness of methodological issues relating to internet research.
The postholder will work with the project leaders at Strathclyde and Edinburgh and across both universities.
The post is based in the Dept of Higher and Community Education at the University of Edinburgh. Full
details and application forms are available from the University of Edinburgh jobs web site at:

Closing date for applications: 14 July 2006.
With thanks, and apologies for any cross-postings
