National launch of professional development materials for Principal
Investigators
Developing the leadership and management skills of research staff is a key
priority for universities as they respond to recommendations outlined in
the Roberts review (2002) and the ambitious targets for UK science in the
Government’s Ten Year Science and Innovation Investment Framework (2004).
To assist this process, a consortium of universities and institutions lead
by Leicester, Cambridge and Loughborough Universities in partnership with
Imperial College London, London School of Economics and University College
London have contributed to the delivery of a key project, Establishing and
Meeting the Leadership and Development Needs of Principal Investigators
(PIs).
At a special event on Friday 20th October 2006 at the Institute of Physics,
76 Portland Place, London W1B 1NT, the project team will launch materials
and resources designed to support the professional development of PIs.
This free event, commencing at 11 am and finishing around 1.15 pm, will
provide an opportunity to see the materials and resources on offer, hear
the rationale behind their development and speak to the team that has
developed them. Refreshments will be provided.
The event is open to all those from the Higher Education Sector who are
interested in support and development opportunities for PIs.
If you wish to attend the event or would like to find out more about the
project please contact:
