ACADEMIC DEVELOPMENT AND THE ENHANCEMENT OF TEACHING-LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS
TechnoCentre, Coventry University, Friday 3 June 2005, 10.00 - 3.45
This symposium aims to review the emerging findings of the ETL Project and
to explore their implications for academic development. Participation in
the symposium is free of charge, and open to anyone with an interest in
developing and supporting learning and teaching in higher education.
ETL (Enhancing Teaching-Learning Environments in Undergraduate Courses) is
a large-scale project funded under the ESRC Teaching and Learning Research
Programme. It has been working with departmental partners in four subject
areas -- biology, economics, electronic engineering and history -- in
twelve universities and colleges. The evidence underpinning the project's
findings comes from analyses of 6,500 student questionnaires and
interviews with 600 students and 80 staff.
Contributors: Professor Ray Land and Dr. Adrian Bromage (Coventry
University); Professor Dai Hounsell, Dr. Kate Day and Ms. Judith Litjens
(University of Edinburgh).
