Hi,
At Coventry University we are investigating alternative institutional
models for supporting academic staff in their e-learning developments
(blended as well as distance learning – but not extensive materials
production). I’ve outlined some general models below and would be grateful
if you could identify which (if any) you are using, approximately how many
e-learning support staff you have and also which you would like to have.
1. Please mark one or more of the following, and state approximately how
many e-learning support staff you think are employed by your institution:
Model A: central e-learning support within an information/computing
services unit
Model B: central e-learning support within an educational
development/quality enhancement unit
Model C: central e-learning support within a staff development/human
resources unit
Model D: mainly departmental/faculty-based support
Model E: central and departmental/faculty-based support working in
collaboration
Model F: other (please specify)
2. Irrespective of the model you currently employ, which do you think would
be best for your institution?
Further comments and insights into the way you operate this kind of support
are welcome. You can reply to me individually and if I get a decent return,
I will post a summary to the list (this will respect anonymity).
Many thanks,
Frances
