Dear Colleagues,
As you may know, SEDA has been updating its Fellowship Scheme to account for new markets, the changing world of HE and the increasing need to support those delivering HE in FE. It was agreed that the processes and outcomes of the Scheme should remain essentially the same, however, the wording would be updated and a greater distinction would be made between the Associate and Full Fellowship. The Committee began by reviewing the Associate Fellowship, and a draft of the updated Scheme was circulated to all holders and registrants for comment in December. The latest versions of the two Schemes were drafted iteratively as a result of further discussions with and comment from individual Fellowship holders and the SEDA Executive.
Non-formatted drafts of the new Associate Fellowship and Fellowship leaflets are available for view and comment at the SEDA web-site:

Additional information for registrants, such as examples of evidence and guidelines for assessment and assessors, will be provided in the up-dated handbook. It is anticipated that the final versions of the Schemes will be ratified at the SEDA AGM in June and will be formally launched at SEDA's November conference.
We would very much welcome any comments you might have on the Scheme particularly in response to the following questions:
*Do the updated Schemes reflect the expanded range of people who are engaged in academic staff and educational development-type activities in HE and FE?
*Would the Schemes be of interest to staff working within your organisations and, if so, how might we raise awareness? If not, why not.
*There are many changes going on in academic staff and educational development particularly with the inception of the new Academy. Are these Schemes suitably flexible to remain relevant for the next 5 years or so?
*Should SEDA seek accreditation for these Schemes and if so, from whom?
*In your opinion, what is the current status of the Fellowship within the academic staff and educational development community and how might it be enhanced?
*Any other comments, suggestions, questions?
Please send your responses to me by Friday 30th May.
Thank you for your help.
Best wishes,
Helen
