~ See how Context materials can play a role in enhancing student academic learning & employability
~ Review examples of interesting Context practice
~ Explore ways to develop partnerships between academia and the workplace in its broadest sense.
********What are context materials?*********
Context materials enable the academic curriculum to be developed in ways which enhance not only the student's knowledge and understanding of his/her subject but also their employability. Through the use of real life scenarios from the workplace students are able to:
~ learn about a variety of employment sectors, situations, themes and functions
~ participate in team based activity - not always possible through work experience
~ develop a range of skills including interpersonal skills
~ demonstrate the application of academic learning
~ extend their knowledge of workplaces
~ broaden career horizons.
Context material complements other ways of providing work experience and when used together, provide the full range of learning outcomes.
