Trinity College Dublin has recently established the Centre for Academic
Practice and Student Learning (CAPSL) to assist the College in developing a
strong and integrated framework for supporting best academic practice and
the highest quality student learning. CAPSL includes the following three
areas: Academic Practice, Learning Development, and the Centre for Learning
Technology.
The Academic Developer selected for this one-year position will work with
the Director of CAPSL to design and deliver workshops to academic staff on a
wide range of topics related to academic practice, including teaching and
learning, scholarship, and academic management. This position will also
involve consultation work with groups of academic staff and postgraduate
teaching assistants, departments, and dinviduals who wish to enhance
teaching and academic practice.
The successful applicant for this position will hold a higher degree and a
qualification in learning and teaching in higher education. You will have
several years relevant experience as an academic developer and will have
excellent interpersonal skills to work confidently and proactively with
academic staff and heads of department in providing workshops and
consultations. Expertise in a wide range of academic practice shoudl
include best practice in learning and teaching for higher education,
assessment, curriculum design, active learning, and scholarship of teaching.
