Conference Announcement
The SPAT National Conference on Student Progression and Transfer - 16th
and 17th January 2003
The University of Plymouth
The National Conference on Student Progression and Transfer will provide
a forum for addressing the practical and academic issues affecting the
progression and transfer of students on HE courses at FE to degree
courses at university. The conference will include discussion on the
following themes:
· Student Progression into and through higher education
· Building academic partnerships - forging good relationships between
FE & HE
· Understanding HE culture, matching student expectations to experience
The conference will act as the launch for a range of generic materials
developed by the SPAT project.
Copies will be available for all delegates both in hard copy and on an
interactive CD. These materials are suitable
for FE and HE staff involved with the progression and transfer of
students from HND courses, or equivalent, moving into the later stages
of a honours degree.
There will be a display of posters during the conference and we would
welcome contributions for this. Please indicate your interest at
registration and we will reserve a board for you.
The conference dinner is being held at the Plymouth National Marine
Aquarium and the evening will include a tour. We have reserved all rooms
at the nearby Travel Inn, places are limited therefore an early
reservation is recommended. The total cost will be £90.
The conference will take place on 16th - 17th January 2003 at The
University of Plymouth and is being organised by the HEFCE funded
Student Progression and Transfer (SPAT) project.
