and
teaching or administration in education?
Can you give strategic leadership and direction as well as delivering
practitioner services within the education community?
Do you want to play a key part in developing a major new service for the
education sector?
If you can answer yes to all of these questions we would like to hear
from
you. Northumbria University is leading a national consortium to
provide a
Centre of Expertise in the Planning & Implementation of Information
Systems
for the Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC). The Centre
will
provide strategic support to the whole of the Further and Higher
Education
community and will deliver a range of services for those
selecting,
implementing and using IT systems.
The Centre will become operational in January 2003 and we are looking to
appoint three key staff.
FE Liaison Manager
You will have a strong background and established reputation in
information
systems management within the FE sector. You will play a lead role in
determining priorities for the FE sector and ensuring early delivery of
value added services. You will be able to give strategic advice to the
FE
sector as well as delivering practitioner services. You will have a
sound
understanding of the administration of learning & teaching in FE and the
potential benefits of using IT to support and re-engineer these
processes.
MLE/VLE manager
You will have a strong background and established reputation in using IT
for
learning & teaching within the FE or HE sector. You will appreciate the
benefits, drawbacks, motivators and barriers
to the use of IT and particularly VLEs in learning & teaching. You will
be
aware of the issues surrounding interoperability and use of standards
for
the transfer of data between VLEs and MIS.
You will combine a sound theoretical knowledge with practical
experience.
You will play a lead role in determining priorities in relation to the
Centre's MLE/VLE work and ensuring early delivery of value added
services.
National Liaison Manager
You will have extensive experience in an FE and/or HE context in
Northern
Ireland, Scotland and/or Wales. You will understand the key issues
facing
the different national constituencies. You will be able to give
strategic
advice as well as delivering practitioner services. You will play a lead
role in determining priorities for the national constituencies and
ensuring
early delivery of value added services.
Terms & Benefits Package
Excellent salary and benefits package for the right candidates.
Salary on the basis of skill and experience up to a maximum of £43K.
The National Liaison post will be located in Stirling but the location
of
the other posts is subject to discussion based on the candidates'
circumstances.
The posts are appointments to the staff of the Centre but secondments
(minimum one year) for career development or other purposes will be
considered.
The posts are available for job share.
