New Alliances: creating strategic networks in Scotland with the LTSN
and Generic Centre

Dear Colleagues

On Tuesday 30 January a forum will be held at the Centre for Teaching,
Learning & Assessment at the University of Edinburgh which will be
attended by Cliff Allan, the Director of the Learning & Teaching
Support Network (LTSN) and Brenda Smith, Head of the LTSN Generic
Centre.

The purpose of the event will be to enable educational developers, and
other interested academics, in Scottish higher education to gain
insights into the way these two recently established organisations
plan to support teaching and learning in higher education over the
next few years. The particular emphasis will be in relation to
Scottish HE, and the day will provide an opportunity to create
mutually useful future networking links with the LTSN and Generic
Centre. Cliff Allan and Brenda Smith have also expressed their wish
that the day will be an opportunity for them to gain an understanding
of the aspirations and concerns of colleagues working in Scottish HE
and for us to make such priorities known.

It promises to be a valuable and informative day and we very much hope
that you and/or a colleague will be able to join us in the building of
such alliances.

The forum will take place in Thomson's Land at the Holyrood Campus of
Edinburgh University, which is within a few minutes walking distance
of Waverley Station. (Maps can be found at:
http://www.tla.ed.ac.uk/address.html and will be sent out with
registration). Parking is available in the multi-storey commercial car
park across the road. The day will begin with coffee at 10.15 and will
conclude at 3.45pm. Lunch will be provided.

To cover costs a charge of £25 will be made. Further details about the
structure of the day and maps for reaching the TLA Centre will be sent
out with registration. If you would like to attend or have further
enquiries at this stage please contact Pauline Clark, TLA Centre
Departmental Secretary, at any of the addresses below:
