APOLOGIES FOR CROSS-POSTING
The Geography Discipline Network (GDN) has recently published a series of 8
guides to 'Key Skills in Geography in Higher Education' (see list below).
Many of the issues raised in the guides are generic, and most of the case
studies and exercises can easily be adapted for use by other disciplines.
* Key Skills: teaching and learning for transfer
* Assessing and Recording a Skills-based Curriculum
* Improving Students' Communication Skills
* Improving Students' Numeracy Skills
* Improving Students Team and Personal Skills
* Improving Students' Problem-solving and Thinking Skills
* Improving Students' Skills Through Work-based Learning
* Geography@University: <mailto:Geography@University:> making the
most of your geography degree and courses
The first seven guides are aimed at staff in geography in higher education,
whilst the guide 'Geography@University: making the most of your geography
degree and courses' is aimed at students who have applied for a geography
degree, or who have already started one.
Full details and an order form can be found on the GDN WWW pages
(http://www.chelt.ac.uk/gdn/guides/dfeepubl.htm)
<http://www.chelt.ac.uk/gdn/guides/dfeepubl.htm)> . There is a discount for
full set orders and for bulk orders of the student guide.
The guides will be on display at next week's ISL symposium in Manchester.
Best wishes
Mick
