Dear all,
First of all, many thanks to John for getting us all together on
Friday. It was great to be able to share ideas with so many kindred
spirits.
What I'd like to follow up on is a question John threw out in his
introduction: "Who are we?" This is something that I'm doing some
personal research into at the moment so I'd be very pleased to
collate information and write up a report.
You've already given some information to John which is available in
the database on the LDHEN file space. There are also some
biographies which give details of the way in which people work. I
shall draw on the information given there.
I'm particularly interested in the status learning development/study
skills is given in your institution in terms of your post - the official
status (salary scale, permanence, central service,
faculty/departmental project etc) as well as the perceived status
(relationship with senior management/academic staff/library etc).
Another thing I'm interested in is the original professional
background(s) of people involved in learning development/study
skills. (I'm a teacher turned academic, with training in
information/library skills and am now on an academic related
contract.)
I realise some of these details may be sensitive so if you want to
send a personal e-mail to [log in to unmask] I shall
anonymyse before sharing. Otherwise, I shall draw on anything that
is sent to the network or which is posted in the file area.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Ann
