Dear Ann,
I'd like to add a few information about me to the material I sent earlier:
the status learning development/study
skills is given in your institution in terms of your post:
for 2001-2003, the University of Freiburg invited me as a visiting
professor with the task to develop a writing center. I am now back at my
home university in the US but I continue teaching for the University of
Education in Freiburg through the Internet.
The writing center has its own annual budget and reports directly to the
president of the university. A senior lecturer position is planned to
continue the directorship of the writing center.
The original professional background(s) of people involved in learning
development/study skills: I have my degrees in German studies and my
full-time position as an associate professor at Emory University is in
German as a Foreign language. Nevertheless, my research interest has
always been in writing pedagogy and curricluar and institutional
development (development of writing programs, writing centers in higher
education and in secondary education).
Best regards,
Gerd
