It would be great to develop some sort of training programme in which we
could participate for our own CPD. I was hoping that the LearnHigher
initiative would have allowed us to develop such a scheme shared across
our diverse institutions - and perhaps that is still possible across the
even more diverse institutions that constitute LDHEN.
At the same time, I agree with those who have warned that we should not
be too prescriptive in these managerialst times!
A Project based programme:
I like the idea of a project based set of qualifications wherein the
individual creates their own programme based on their own interests.
Each year we all de facto follow a development avenue in our practice -
it would be excellent if we could develop that into an action (research)
qualification - perhaps even to EdPhil level - and validated through
ALDinHE!
Thus each year we could:
* identify an area of exploration (EBL, Alternative assessments,
Mentoring colleagues, Diversity, Blended learning, Write to Learn...)
* access resources (that we in LDHEN could share via the ALDinHE website)
* optional - participate in an on-line reading and/or writing group to
support each other
* carry out the action research
* reflect
* produce conference paper/presentation
* submit for validation ...
How's that for an alternative assessment model?
Best,
Sandra
