HI Stephen
Thanks for sharing this link. I was also aware of this via Twitter last week and just wanted to confirm that it is really an excellent read with some great contributions from respected authors.
Best wishes

Subject: Open access e-book. Education and Technology: critical approaches
Morning all – hope all’s well.
Thought folks might be interested in the following open access e-book (in Portuguese and English): https://ticpe.files.wordpress.com/2017/04/ebook-ticpe-2017.pdf
From the introductory chapter:
‘This volume offers a measure of sobriety in reaction to the excesses and hyperboles found in the mainstream literature on Education and Technology. The pieces here included tackle questions of power and consider contextual and historical specificities, escaping the usual euphoria that surrounds digital technology and adopting different perspectives on our current historical moment. In other words, Education and technology: critical approaches brings together texts which question the hypothetical neutrality of technology and are not based upon reductionist or universalised views of a world that is, indeed, marked by difference, complexity and inequality.’
In a similar (if somewhat broader) vein, I’ve just got hold of a copy of this: https://policypress.co.uk/digital-sociologies (which I’ve not yet read, but which looks ace!)
There’s a nice interview with one of the editors (Karen Gregory) available here: http://newbooksnetwork.com/jessie-daniels-karen-gregory-and-tressie-mcmillan-cottom-eds-digital-sociologies-policy-press-2016/
All the best,
Steve
