Hi Christine
We have two relevant on-line tests - the Harvard Referencing Ferret and
the Plagiarism Badger.
http://www2.ntu.ac.uk/sss/studysupport/tests/
They were developed in QuestionMark perception, so reports are
publishable and data is available although we've only really looked at
cohorts, rather than individual students. One major problem that we've
identified though is that there is a very wide degree of inconsistency
between individual/ course/ school practice, but it's starting to be a
good driver for encouraging a discussion about common standards &
practices.
I'd be happy to discuss the test further with you.

Subject: Diagnostic test for plagiarism and referencing
Hello all -
we have been asked by our Business School to develop generic diagnostic
tests
relating to plagiarism in the first instance, and then to referencing.
These
will be posted on the Blackboard VLE and be available to all Business
School
students at all levels. The idea is that the tests are marked by
lecturers and
those obtaining a low mark will be offered extra support of some
description.
If this pilot is successful it could be rolled out to other departments
on
request, with appropriate subject wrappings being developed by
departments.
Has anyone out there developed such tests, or know of anyone who has?
Thanks in advance - Chris Pinder
