Hello Vicky
At Portsmouth we have the Academic Skills Unit (ASK), which is open to
all students and centrally based. We also have English for Academic
Purposes (EAP) based in the Faculty of Humanities. We promote ASK
and EAP in all promotional materials and at student induction. We also
have Additional Support and Disability Unit (ASDAC), which is centrally
based in the same building as ASK. In a nutshell, all international
students start with EAP but they can also come to ASK for specific help.
All disabled students who declare a disability start with ASDAC but are
frequently referred to ASK. ASK is open to UG and PG and we offer 2,000
one to one tutorials each year and also work in faculties where we are
involved in a range of innovative projects.
Best Wishes
Mary

These days it is not just that Language and Learning Development are
separate - there is Dyslexia Support, Student Development +/- Peer
Support that all offer some sort of help to students - and we could all
perhaps integrate better?
