Oooh interesting question!
What would my 6 top fixes be? In no particular order:
* Unconditional positive regard for all (staff to staff; students to
staff; staff to students; students to students etc etc!)
* High quality learning spaces appropriate for diverse and exciting
learning activities
* Flexibility in assessment and learning activities with ownership from
students in the process
* Speedy, high quality feedback throughout the learning process
* Openness to new ideas from people (this will resonate more with those
who heard my rant about use of technology at the retention convention
yesterday!)
* Inclusive practice rather than fragmented and patchy responses to
'problems'
I'd also like to see staff smiling at students (and vice versa).
I guess the harder question is, having defined these, what are we going
to do to achieve them?
