Agree with Peter that 'Association' works more effectively as a badge
(though 'Network' describes what we do better). Therefore would vote for
ALDinHE over LDHEN.
On the ALDinHE debate, I've never had any problems with typing it or
remembering it, and it does make it easier to say - oh, and I did
remember the typesetting connection but note Ed's point that we don't
make anything of that. So if we do decide to hang on to ALDinHE, it
would be good if we did.
That's my two penn'orth.
Kim

If I recall correctly the word ALDINHE was liked because of the
connections to Aldus Manutius's ALDINE printing press, that's right THE
Aldus Manutius - the inventor of italics. My extensive research
(wikipedia) makes me think it's a pretty cool connection.
But
- We don't celebrate the connection
- We don't have a printing press logo
- I suspect that practically no-one else remembers the the typesetting
connection
- It's not even the same word
- ALDinHE is rock-hard to type
- And (he says confessionally) when trying to find the website, it took
me about two years of googling "aldine","higher education", "Lincoln"
and "Andy Hagyard", before I noticed that I was spelling the name of the
association wrong
I like ALDE
I'm going to stop now
