Having previous experience of Maria's super-efficient organisation of Writing Development in HE conferences, I can recommend Leicester - but am equally happy to go with any of these three

Subject: LDHEN - CORRECTION - CALL FOR VOTES!
Importance: High
Dear All
SORRY - there are THREE choices - Maria offered Leicester and I somehow lost it (How unusual of me!)
If you've already voted and want to change, please vote again! - see Maria's message below.
So vote for :
Northumbria
Leicester
Or Exeter

Hi John
There was an offer of a venue from the Midlands - from me in Leicester! It was a bit cautious in its phrasing (see original email below) but yes, if the Midlands was a popular option we have a conference centre here who are very good and who could organise a suitable venue and facilities for us.
Best wishes

Dear All
It may be possible to host a symposium here at Leicester. We are very central and I would be willing to investigate the possibility if it proved convenient for everyone.
Best wishes

Sorry it took me so long to do this - I've finally collated responses now:
1. Twenty of you would definitely like another LDHEN conference - most felt the autumn would be best but some said the spring of 2005. Let's go for the autumn then.
2. VENUE - Helen Danbury offered University of Northumbria as a venue and Sarah McCarthy offered Exeter Uni.
3. Four people said they'd prefer a Midlands venue but I have no offers of a site ... Two said they'd prefer London again ... I feel that, despite calls for the Midlands, since we do have specific offers, we should choose between them.
3. Suggestions for speakers: Jenny Moon and Stephen Rowland.
4. idea from Bill Miller - have a panel/forum question-time type discussion.
I am not sure what to do next. I have taken on a lot for this next year and don't feel able to offer to organise the conference again - although I don't mind helping. Is anyone else willing to take it on? Perhaps if Exeter is chosen, Sarah and Lotte will do it, and if Northumbria is chosen, Helen will .... ? what do you think Sarah, Lotte, Helen?
SO: I am asking you ALL to vote by responding to this message saying whether Northumbria or Exeter is your first choice. Can I ask you to reply to me soon - by June 11th at latest. Then I will announce the result and, I hope, hand over conference organisation - and we can then fix a date etc.
All the best
John
