You can download an example of a guide for students from our website at
http://staffcentral.brighton.ac.uk/clt/personaltutoring.html then scroll
down to 'Personal Tutoring -what to expect'. This was written for a specific
course, but most of the advice is generic .
Same web-page also has a Guide for Personal Tutors (this year was the first
year we've done it in this form, and I expect to update it substantially
this summer to reflect further developments in PDP here, but it does include
some stuff about supporting student learning)
University of Reading has a much more comprehensive guide for personal
tutors (sorry I can't rember URL offhand but a Google search should do it)
Best wishes

Subject: Personal Tutoring
Dear Colleagues
We have reviewed our Personal Tutoring scheme here at the School of
Management at Bradford Uni and will move it away from a '999' type service
for students, to one more concerned with helping tudents develop effective
techniques for learning. This anticipates the introduction of PDF 2005/6. I
need now however, to prepare an information sheet for students outling the
pastoral & learning support role of PTs & the responsibilities of students.
I wonder if any Service has such an information sheet & if so, whether they
would be good enough to let me have a look at it? I am faced currently with
the blank white stage of writing & need such an icepick to get me started.
Thanks.
