Hi Gordon
I regularly see PhD students at both Glasgow and Strathclyde who are either GTAs or junior teaching staff, and aside from sharing with them the gen. advice I would give their UG or PG classes, I usually signpost Learn Higher<http://www.learnhigher.ac.uk/> and the HEA Tool Kits<https://www.heacademy.ac.uk/individuals/strategic-priorities> and Knowledge Hub<https://www.heacademy.ac.uk/hub>. And of course, there is a lot written about effective 'feedforward' as well, including some great stuff in the JLDinHE<http://journal.aldinhe.ac.uk/index.php/index/search/search?simpleQuery=feedback&searchField=query>.
Catch you soon,
Alex

Subject: Seeking advice - Postgrads who Teach?
Hi all
Seeking advice – wondering if anyone involved in working with ‘Postgrads who Teach’ (covering demonstrating for labs, taking tutorials, teaching/lecturing and assessment marking and feedback) that might have any resources and/or thoughts to share
Thanks

"Education either functions as an instrument which is used to facilitate integration of the younger generation into the logic of the present system and bring about conformity or it becomes the practice of freedom, the means by which men and women deal critically and creatively with reality and discover how to participate in the transformation of their world." Paulo Freire (Pedagogy of the Oppressed)
"Education is the point at which we decide whether we love the world enough to assume responsibility for it, and by the same token save it from that ruin which except for renewal, except for the coming of the new and the young, would be inevitable." Hannah Arendt (The Crisis of Education)
"it is impossible to imagine a future unless we have located ourselves in the present and its history; however, the reverse is also true in that we cannot locate ourselves in the present and its history unless we imagine the future and commit to creating it" (Anna Stetsenko, 2015).
