Hallo colleagues, and apologies for cross-posting
There are some spaces left at an ALDinHE supported workshop at LondonMet (Moorgate campus) next week (Tuesday 23rd June, 12-5)
'Home and Away: the transformative potential of partnership working'
I have attached details at the end of the message and bookings may be made through EventBrite
https://thetransformativepotentialofpartnership.eventbrite.co.uk
The venue is Room MG 507 on the University's Moorgate campus http://www.londonmet.ac.uk/contact-us/how-to-find-us/moorgate/
The guest speaker is Dr Rebecca Schendel from UCL/IoE who will open proceedings with:
'Shooting in the dark? The tensions and challenges of university partnerships for development'
It is hoped that this event will prompt further research activity on the potential for partnerships to go from transactional to transformational and on the characteristics and experiences of 'boundary spanners' working with this intention. If any colleagues would like to be involved in these activities but cannot come to London next week, then please get in touch with me at [log in to unmask]
With best wishes,
Hazel

We are pleased to invite colleagues involved in overseas partnerships to a free half-day workshop at the London Metropolitan University Moorgate campus on 23rd June.
The growth in transnational partnerships in HE provides both opportunities and challenges to those involved in their development. This workshop, supported by funding from the ALDinHE, will provide the opportunity for collaborative discussion around issues relating to;
•the opportunities and challenges associated with partnership working
•how partnerships move from being transactional to transformational
•learning and teaching development overseas
•the characteristics and work of ‘boundary spanners’
•developing a research agenda
The event will open with a guest lecture by Dr Rebecca Schendel (UCL Institute of Education) entitled
Shooting in the dark? The tensions and challenges of university partnerships for development
This will be followed by a case study evaluation of a learning and teaching development programme with a private HEI in Sri Lanka
The final focus of the workshop will be to explore the characteristics and work of academic and professional ‘boundary spanners’ working in transnational contexts, and to develop a research agenda which will inform the development of this practice and the transformative potential of partnership working.
Please join us in central London for lunch at 12.00 followed by an interesting and interactive workshop. The afternoon will end at 5pm with drinks and the invitation to be involved in further research activity.
Please contact Dr Hazel Messenger [log in to unmask] for further information
