A 2-day workshop to disseminate practical outputs from the What works? Student retention and success Programme.
Between 2008 & 2011, the Paul Hamlyn Foundation and HEFCE funded seven institutional research projects to explore factors associated with student retention, engagement and success. ‘What Works?’ was always intended to be action-focused and the projects have, in addition to their programmes of research, produced resources and ideas that institutions can use to reflect on their own approaches to retention and to develop strategies for improving it.
Workshop outcomes
By the end of the workshop, participants will:
• Better understand the core findings from What Works? Student retention & success projects
• Consider their institutions’ strategies for retention and success, and discuss them with peers from across the sector
• Experience, and take home, resources/staff development activities that can help improve retention & success
This event will have succeeded if colleagues feel that they have gained tools and expertise that they can use and successfully share in their own institutions.
