Hello everybody,
Following the thread on involvement in activities with new intake of students, the Learning Development Centre at Aston University has carried out a number of approaches:
i) Our Advisors have been into the schools of study across the university and promoted the centre and services which we offer
ii) Library staff have promoted the centre through their inductions by showing students our promotional advert (you may wish to check out this ‘cutting edge’ piece of footage, produced by our Media and Learning Technology team: <http://www1.aston.ac.uk/current-students/academic-support/ldc/aboutus/> http://www1.aston.ac.uk/current-students/academic-support/ldc/aboutus/ )
iii) We have worked closely with the Learner Enhancement Team to provide an induction week for the new intake of mature students (which we found to be most successful, enjoyable and rewarding for all involved, students and staff alike)
iv) We have promoted the centre at all student fairs (International and Freshers’)
v) Finally, over the year, we have worked with students and academic staff to produce our Get Ahead site, which is aimed at both first year students and pre-entry students, which you may be interested to explore: <http://www1.aston.ac.uk/current-students/academic-support/ldc/get-ahead/> http://www1.aston.ac.uk/current-students/academic-support/ldc/get-ahead/
Any comments on our approaches are welcome ☺
Wishing you all a successful and enjoyable academic year,
Debbie De
