Dear All,
For a while now ALDinHE has been considering the need for professional development materials and possibly a formal qualification for Learning Developers.
We would like to start a discussion on this issue and gather information about the CPD needs from all of us in the Learning Development community to help in our long-term aim of developing CPD materials which will be of benefit to us all.
We would be most grateful for your comments and ideas. We realise this is an issue which has come up periodically on the LDHEN list before, and Caroline Cash is kindly going to look back over old posts and extract previous discussions to form a framework of needs and expertise. However, we realise these needs may have moved on or changed, so please do send your comments to be added into this.
We are looking for your input on:
1) Your career path - what was your route into Learning Development?
2) Were there any areas (e.g. one-to-one teaching, online resource development etc) that you would have liked more training or support on when you started in LD?
3) Are there any areas that you would like further CPD materials on now?
4) Do you have any existing CDP materials / expertise that you would be happy to share or make available to fellow LDers?
We are looking to gather in all comments by the end of December 2009.
Best wishes and thank you for your help
Michelle
