Hello
I have just subscribed to this list at the suggestion of my colleague
Sandra Sinfield.
For a while now I have perceived that people who work in a specialised
teaching & learning role (e.g. as a teaching & learning facilitator),
especially where technology is involved, are talking a language that is
not always recognised by other colleagues. For example, the first time I
heard the term "Web 2.0" at a meeting last year, I had no idea what this
referred to; I suspect I wasn't the only one, but no-one asked about it.
Like other institutions, my own is pushing the blended learning concept,
but many people still ask me what this actually is.
In addition, one of the things that seems to be in short supply or, if
it exists, isn't being publicised enough, is concrete examples of how
e-learning is being used to increase the "blend" in blended learning.
To address this issue of communication and understanding, I have set up
a wiki site "Teaching Learning & Assessment" at http://tla.wikidot.com
Among other things, this site has a glossary of definitions used in
teaching & learning, plus some examples of e-learning that I have been
able to find. Please have a browse and pass the link to anyone you think
might be interested.
If you would like to help improve/extend the site itself, then you can
apply to join the wiki as a member by clicking the "Join this site"
button on the menu
Best,
David Hardman
